If you grew up in my generation, I’m sure you have the lyrics memorized to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air intro theme song or know how to do Carlton’s dance to Tom Jones’ It’s Not Unusual. Â Speaking of the Fresh Prince, Will Smith owns a company called Overbrook Entertainment which has just invested $2 million into a music video startup company called PluggedIn with several investors.

PluggedIn has deals in place with EMI, SonyBMG, and Universal. Â PluggedIn plans on launching with over 10,000 HD quality music videos. Â Eat that, YouTube. Â PluggedIn has a partnership with Move Networks, a high definition video company that also raised funding recently. Â PluggedIn plans on taking these music videos and building a community around it through fans of the artist. Â

PluggedIn was started by Brett O’Brien, Kevin Welk, and Jeff Somers.  O’Brien sold a company to AOL called Xdrive, Welk is the CEO of Sugar Hill Records, and Somers is a former executive of Zillow and Amazon.com.

Overbrook Entertainment’s clients include Caleeb Pinkett, Jaden Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Will Smith, Willow Smith, Paula Patton, and Jennifer Hudson.
