Perez Hilton asked a question during the Miss USA pageant in relation to gay marriage. “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” stated Miss California Carrie Prejean during the competition. This was after she said that it was good that America was open to choice. Perez Hilton was furious by this answer so he resorted to calling her all sorts of profanities on his blog.

Prejean on the other hand rigorously defended her opinion. “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I stated an opinion that was true to myself, and that’s all I can do,” said Prejean in an interview with Billy Bush, host of Miss USA.

“It did cost me my crown,” Prejean added. “It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.”

Hilton initially wrote the insult and then apologized. But then he took back the apology and continued to bash on Prejean.

Funny or Die decided to weigh in on the situation by publishing a parody video of the whole situation called A Gaythering Storm. The video stars Sarah Chalke, Jason Lewis, Lynne Stewart, Alicia Silverstone, Lance Bass, Liz Feldman, Sophia Bush, Drew Droege, Mike Hitchcock, Daniele Gathier, Jay Lay, Erin Foley, George Takei, and Jane Lynch.

Fourteen million pageviews in one day is an amazing accomplishment.  One man show, Perez Hilton was able to gather enough of an audience to hit this landmark for Oscar coverage. Perez Hilton’s traffic is very comparable to Wordpress.com’s traffic.  And keep in mind, Wordpress.com hosts a ton of blogs.

Perez Hilton’s website gets more U.S. unique visitors than Wordpress.com and he receives more pageviews than the HuffingtonPost.  HuffPo has hundreds of writers and millions in funding too.  Congratulations to Hilton for the achievement.
