It was only a couple of days ago that the U.S. ITC ruled that some of HTC’s smartphones was violating several of Apple’s patents. HTC has already started testing out new phone models that work around technology that was cited in the patent lawsuit that was won by Apple.

HTC CEO Peter Chou and Google SVP of Mobile Andy Rubin told the media in Taiwan that the two companies would be working with each other to protect themselves from “unfair” means to stop innovation. The patent lawsuit between HTC and Apple is seen as a proxy of a larger fight between Google Android and Apple iOS.

We already know that the HTC Magic and the Android Hero have been revealed, but recently HTC CEO Peter Chou announced that the company will ship at least three smartphones powered by Google Android this year. HTC was the first company to reveal the Android operating system with the G1 last year.

The HTC Magic, known as the G2 is being sold in Europe through Vodafone. Chou made the announcement at the Merrill Lynch technology conference in Taipei.

This is good news for developers of applications on the Android Market. More phones equals more sales of applications.
