Rovio’s Angry Birds has reached a major milestone. The company has hit 500 million downloads in under 2 years since the game launched. Angry Birds is a mobile game where players uses a slingshot to throw birds at pigs that stole their eggs. Angry Birds has stayed at the top of the charts since they launched for the Apple iPhone on December 11, 2009.

Technmarketing.com recently did an interesting interview with Rovio Mobile Mighty Eagle Peter Vesterbacka. One of the most interesting answers he gave when asked about why Angry Birds was available for free on Android was “Nobody has been successful selling content on Android.”

After being downloaded 36 million times on the iPhone and Android, Angry Birds is now coming to gaming consoles. Rovio developers are working on Angry Birds for the Microsft Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and the Nintendo Wii.
