Sift Science Raises $5.5 Million In Seed Funding

Sift Science is a company that has raised $5.5 million in funding to help fight fraud.  Investors that participated in this round include Y Combinator, SV Angel, Start Fund, Alex Rampell, Harj Taggar, Garry Tan, Lee Linden, Kevin Scott, Alexis Ohanian, Rich Barton, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Founder Collective, Max Levchin, Chris Dixon, Marc Benioff, and several others.  Sift Science has created technology that helps e-commerce companies, payment companies, and retailers detect fraudulent activity.  Albert Wenger of Union Square will be joining Sift’s board of directors.

Room 77 Raises $30.3 Million In Series C Funding

Room 77 is a search engine company that helps people find the lowest price on hotel rooms.  Based in Mountain View, California, Room 77 has raised $30.3 million in a Series C round of funding.  Room 77 has raised a total of $43.8 million.  Investors in this round include Expedia Inc., Sutter Hill Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, Felicis Ventures, and Concur Technologies.  Other investors that participated in this round include Expedia founder Rich Barton, former Expedia CEO Erik Blachford, and Hotwire co-founder and Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff.  This round of funding will go towards scaling the product.

Glassdoor is a company that collections the compensation data for tens of thousands of companies.  The company has just raised $20 million in a new round of funding led from DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital, Sutter Hill Ventures, and Battery Ventures.

Zillow Reports $11.2 Million Revenue, $826K Loss For Q1 and Chooses “Z” For Ticker Symbol

Real estate search engine company Zillow.com is planning to go public later this year and has filed an updated SEC filing to include their ticket selection. Zillow.com is planning to trade under the symbol “Z” on the Nasdaq stock exchange. The same filing contained financial information about the company.
