The amount of junk e-mail being sent out plummeted today as the result of a coordinated takedown of the Rustock botnet. Rustock is one of the largest spam-generating programs. Rustock generally pushed online pharmacy and male enhancement pills into people’s inboxes. Apparently the servers used for coordinating these spam messages stop operating all at once.

Dell Inc. has acquired information security services company SecureWorks. SecureWorks is a “Security-as-a-Service” solutions company that processes about 13 billion security events and analyzes 30,000 malware cases per day. SecureWorks was founded in 1999 and has over 1,500 banks and credit unions as their clients. SecureWorks made $120 million in 2010 and has about 700 employees. [TechCrunchIT]
