Snipers that are training as part of the Australian Department of Defence has been working with Marathon Robotics of Sydney, Australia to create a training ground. The training ground features Segway robots that glide around by leaning forward to accelerate and leaning backward to stop which makes them harder to hit. When a sniper hits one of the robots, the other Segway robots scatter automatically, making the training even more realistic. The Segway robots use the Rover system GPS and a scanning laser rangefinder for navigation. [CNET]
