Mobile browser company Skyfire has released a third version for Android. Skyfire gained popularity very quickly after bringing Flash to the iPhone and iPad. Skyfire converts Flash to HTML5 on-the-fly when browsing on the iOS. Skyfire 3.0 for Android has a new feature called “Skyfire bar.”

The Skyfire bar has icons that is at the bottom of the browser. On that bar, you can “like” any page that you visit and share it on Facebook. You can also tweet or e-mail the page that you are looking at.

Two other popular Skyfire bar features include “Fireplace Feed Reader” and “Popular Content.” Fireplace Feed Reader shows links, images, and videos that were posted by your Facebook friends. And the popular content feature takes a look at the website you are looking at and shows you the most recently shared content from that website.

Whenever this feature is added to the iPhone, I am buying Skyfire right away. These sound like slick features. If you have downloaded the Android Skyfire app, let us know how you like it in the comments.

Earlier this month SkyFire launched an iPhone application but had to quickly remove it because their servers was getting slammed. SkyFire launched the application again this past weekend and sales soared past $1 million as a result.

Although SkyFire did not reveal their revenues directly, they sent MobileCrunch their download numbers. SkyFire said that they sold well over 300,000 downloads. With a price of $2.99 per download, that means that SkyFire pulled in nearly $900,000. Of that number, Apple took a 30% cut as they do from all developers.

The unique feature behind SkyFire is that they allow you to view websites that have Flash content. SkyFire converts websites with Flash into HTML5 on-the-fly. As you know, Apple does not allow you to view any content powered by Adobe Flash on any web browser. You can download the app from here [iTunes link]

The app is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Skyfire for Android saw over 1.5 million downloads. When using the application, the Skyfire server downloads Flash videos automatically and converts it to HTML5. The user will be able to select the thumbnail, which ends up allowing the content to be streamed by the iOS device.

After hitting the milestone, Skyfire has become one of the most popular Android applications. Skyfire for Android has a cloud-enabled toolbar called SkyBar, which allows users to browse videos that was previously unavailable on mobile devices. This content can be shared through social networks using SkyBar too. You can download Skyfire for Android at http://get.skyfire.com.

Skyfire is still easily my favorite web browser for Windows Mobile and Symbian. The Skyfire browser is still the only one that supports Adobe Flash 10 and Microsoft Silverlight along with other PC media formats. Today Skyfire 1.5 has been released to provide better support for touchscreen phones. Skyfire 1.5 is more aesthetically pleasing than previous versions as well. Some of the new Skyfire features include:

1. VGA Screen Support – Supports VGA (640×480 resolution) and WVGA (800×480 resolution).
2. Smooth Scrolling – The screen will scroll a little bit longer based on finger gestures instead of stopping after you finger leaves the screen.
3. Full Screen Mode – There is a way to hide the navigation icons giving the user the full screen experience.
4. Touch-Friendly – A lot of the icons and have been made bigger so that you don’t need a stylus for the touch experience.
5. Auto-move text entry – Tapping on a text field will re-orient the screen to increase visibility.
6. Support for Flash 10 and Silverlight – Latest versions of Flash and Silverlight are supported
7. Improved speed – Speed and stability have increased.

The aforementioned features are only supported for Windows Mobile Skyfire users only. Symbian will get Skyfire 1.5 very soon.

SkyFire Labs, a mobile web browser company based in Mountain View, California has raised $5 million in a third round of funding according to a filing with the SEC.

SkyFire Labs previously raised $17.8 million from Trinity Ventures, Matrix Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Along with the funding, SkyFire recently hired new CEO Jeffrey Glueck. Glueck is the former CMO at Travelocity.

SkyFire’s mobile web browser has the ability to render Flash and Silverlight media on Windows Mobile phones. Most phones do not have that ability. SkyFire can even make Hulu work on mobile phones. There is no way that Apple would allow this on the iPhone otherwise they would not be able to sell all those applications.

Sprint is my mobile phone provider and I have iPhone-envy. This envy is not enough for me to switch to AT&T and pay large sums of money for minutes and data. I’m still sporting the Moto Q, a phone built with Windows Mobile and was released in 2006. The biggest difference between the Safari and the iPhone and Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile is rendering capabilities.

Internet Explorer is inferior to Safari in terms of loading the full websites of WordPress’ admin, YouTube, Hulu, Digg, etc. Many of these websites are building Windows Mobile Internet Explorer friendly services, but have scaled back tremendously on the full features of the site.

Enter Skyfire, a browser that is able to load everything that your PC or Mac browser can. Skyfire is able to load Flash, Silverlight, Ajax, and QuickTime. If anyone were to ask me which two applications are must downloads for Windows Mobile, I would say Skyfire and Google Maps.

Skyfire was started by Nitin Bhandari (CEO) and Erik Swenson (CTO) in April 2006. Lightspeed Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, and Trinity Ventures invested $17.8 million in Skyfire.
