Sony Corporation has revealed the Xperia Play, also known as the “Playstation phone” at the Mobile World Congress conference. The phone is debuting in the early spring and is heading to Verizon. Over 20 publishers are working on games for the device. The PlayStation 1 game Ridge Racer will come with the device. Other games making its way to the phone include Assassin’s Creed, FIFA, Dead Space, Guitar Hero, and FIFA. The Xperia Play will be available in black and white, has a 5.1-megapixel camera, 400MB of in-phone memory, 8GB microSD memory card, Android 2.3 support, and 5.5 hours of battery life. [Forbes]
Engadget.com has gotten their hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play phone, also known as the PlayStation phone. The phone uses a Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset, 512MB of RAM, 5 megapixel camera on the back with LED flash, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, and FM receiver. Underneath the screen is a gamepad to make playing games easy. There is also four Android soft keys below the screen (back/home/menu/search). Check out the full demo in the video above.
