Sony has hit a new milestone.  The company has passed 70 million units in sales for the PlayStation 3 console.  The company celebrated the 6th anniversary of the PlayStation 3 this past week.  Sony also reported 15 million sales of the Move Motion controller released in 2010.

Sony Announces Slim 250GB PlayStation 3 Bundle On September 25th for $269

At a Tokyo Game Show press event, Sony has announced a slimmed down version of the PlayStation 3.  The new duo of consoles are smaller and will arrive in stocks in black and white versions available in 250GB and 500GB models.  The “charcoal black” option will be available on September 25th for the 250GB bundle (with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception ”Game of the Year Edition”) and a $269.99 price.  The “classic white” model will arrive on November 22 (starting in Japan).  For those of you that want a 500GB model, it will be available on October 30th in conjunction with Assassin’s Creed III.  Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House announced the new model and said that it was 50% smaller than the original PS3.  It is also 25% smaller than the previous slimmed-down model. Sony Updates PS3 To 4.00


Sony has updated the PlayStation 3 to version 4.00 ahead of the release of the PlayStation Vita. Through 4.00, PlayStation 3 users will be able to share music, video, and photos. The PlayStation Vita is expected to release in Japan on December 17th. Other new features in 4.00 includes enhanced PlayStation Network privacy settings and game patches. [PlayStation Blog]

Sony Has Shipped Over 8 Million Move Controllers


Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) has announced that they have shipped over 8 million Move controllers to retailers as of April 3rd. The Move controller eco-system is also seeing some momentum as demonstrated by the success of the PS Eye. Another major milestone Sony hit was the sale of over 50 million PlayStation 3 consoles. Meet The Sony Sharp Shooter Machine Gun


The Sony Sharp Shooter machine gun for the PlayStation Move is taking on the Nintendo Wii controller. The Sharp Shooter works on games like Time Crisis: Razing Storm and The Shoot. The Sharp Shooter holds the motion controller and the navigation controller. The Sharp Shooter also has a digital trigger, adjustable shoulder stock, firing mode selector, a reload button, and pump-action. Suspect Arrested In $500,000 PSP and PS3 Merchandise Heist


Earlier this year, two trailers were stolen near Toronto. The trailers were filled with $1 million worth of PlayStation 3 and PSP devices. About $500,000 worth of the merchandise was recovered after an arrest. While it is unknown whether the suspect actually did it, but he was a person that was in possession of the goods. Angry Birds Is Coming To Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii


After being downloaded 36 million times on the iPhone and Android, Angry Birds is now coming to gaming consoles. Rovio developers are working on Angry Birds for the Microsft Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and the Nintendo Wii. Rovio CEO Peter Vesterbacka did not give any specifics on when Angry Birds will be available for download on gaming consoles. [BBC]

Canadians Thieves Steal $1 Million Worth Of Sony Merchandise


In Brampton, Ontario there has been a couple of major heists. Last Monday a tractor trailer with $500,000 worth of Sony merchandise was stolen, which included PSP and PS3 hardware. Then the next day, another heist took place near Brampton, Ontario where another $500,000 worth of Sony merchandise was stolen. The two trucks that were stolen look like the one in the picture above: one had a Nebraska plate and the other had an Ontario plate. Looks like Vin Diesel and the rest of the gang from The Fast and the Furious are up to no good. [Kotaku]
