Priceline.com has announced that they will be acquiring KAYAK in a stock and cash transaction worth $1.8 billion. This deal values KAYAK’s stock at $40 per share. Priceline.com will be paying $500 million of the consideration in cash and $1.3 billion in equity and assumed stock options.
Kayak.com has added the option to book a hotel room directly through their website. Kayak.com used to promote hotel prices from third parties such as Hotels.com, Expedia, and Priceline. Currently the hotels feature is in limited beta and it will be available through the Kayak.com iPhone app too. Kayak.com recently filed for an IPO and it makes money by referring traffic to Expedia and Orbitz.
