Former Windows Head Steven Sinofsky Is Now Teaching At Harvard

Steven Sinofsky is the former head of Windows that stepped down last month.  He had worked as the head of Windows and was in charge of fixing the Windows Vista mess.  Sinofsky is returning to Harvard University as a professor starting this spring.  He served as a “visiting scholar” at the university in 1998.  He made the announcement about joining Harvard’s faculty on Twitter.  He will be teaching courses on product development and will be writing journal articles about the same subject.  His title will be the Executive in Residence at Harvard.

The head of Windows at Microsoft Corporation, Steven Sinofsky, is stepping down from the company.  This is surprising because it has not even been a month since Windows 8 hit the shelves.  Mr. Sinofsky presided over the launch of the Windows 8 operating system and the Microsoft Surface tablet.

Microsoft By The Numbers: 1.24 Billion Hours Of Windows 8 Testing, Available On 1,000 Certified Devices, 670M Windows 7 Licenses Sold

Yesterday Microsoft officially announced the Windows 8 operating system in New York City.  Microsoft’s president of Windows and Windows Live Steven Sinofsky said that the Windows 8 operating system went through 1.24 million hours of testing across 190 countries.  “No product anywhere receives this kind of testing anywhere in the world,” stated Mr. Sinofsky.

Steven Sinofsky Turns The Surface Tablet Into A Skateboard

Steven Sinofsky, President of the Windows and Windows Live Division at Microsoft, has turned his Surface tablet into a skateboard.  Mr. Sinofsky turned mounted skateboard wheels on the tablet and rode it through the lobby of Studio B, which is the home of the Surface tablet.  “Couldn’t resist taking it out for a spin,” said Sinofsky on Twitter.  He also borrowed a helmet from a colleague.  The 10.6-inch screen made it easy for him to balance on the tablet-skateboard.  This past week Microsoft announced that the Surface tablet will sell for $499 and up.

 

Microsoft Unveils Windows 8 Consumer Preview


Today Microsoft has officially announced the consumer preview of Windows 8. Microsoft has also released Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 5. You can find the OS preview at preview.windows.com. Microsoft had showcased Windows 8 preview in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress where Microsoft is heavily marketing the Windows Phone platform. “Our goal with Windows 8 is to deliver PCs without compromise,” stated Windows head Steven Sinofsky when he took the stage at MWC.

Microsoft Announces Next Version Of Windows Supports System On A Chip (SoC)


Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) made an announcement today that the next version of the Windows operating system will support the System on a Chip (SoC) architectures, which include ARM-based systems from their partners: NVIDIA Corp., Qualcomm Inc., and Texas Instruments.
