Nokia Releasing Symbian-Powered Astound Phone In The U.S.


Nokia has announced today that they are introducing the Astound phone in the United States. The Astound is a lower end smartphone that runs on the Symbian operating system. The device has a 620 megahertz processor and 300 megabytes of memory.

T-Mobile Announces 42 Mbps HSPA+ Cities and Devices


T-Mobile has announced network expansion in 2011. The first three cities to receive a 42 Mbps HSPA+ mobile broadband service in the U.S. is New York, Las Vegas, and Orlando. After spreading in those cities Chicago, Long Island, and northern New Jersey will be the next ones.

T-Mobile LG G-Slate Tablet Costs $529.99 With 2 Year Contract


T-Mobile has officially announced the price of the 8.9-inch 3D-capable G-Slate tablet from LG. The tablet is powered by a Tegra 2 processor and Android Honeycomb operating system. It can connect to T-Mobile’s 4G HSPA+ network and output 1080p video. The price is $529.99 with a 2 year contract and $100 mail in rebate. Below is the press release:

Verizon Wireless CEO Says They Have No Interest In Acquiring Sprint


Verizon Wireless CEO Daniel Mead said that he would not oppose AT&T’s plan to acquire T-Mobile USA for $39 billion. He also said that Verizon Wireless does not have any interest in buying Sprint Nextel Corporation. “We’re not interested in Sprint. We don’t need them,” stated Mead at the CTIA Wireless Conference. AT&T Agreed To Pay T-Mobile $3 Billion If Deal Fails


If AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is unable to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion due to regulatory concerns, then there will be another way that AT&T loses. AT&T will have to pay $3 billion, provide promised valuable spectrum, and a roaming agreement to T-Mobile. “In the event the transaction does not receive regulatory approval satisfactory to AT&T and the transaction does not close, AT&T will be required to pay a breakup fee of $3 (billion), transfer to T-Mobile certain AWS spectrum that is not needed by AT&T for its initial LTE roll out, and provide a roaming agreement to T-Mobile on terms favorable to both parties,” stated AT&T. T-Mobile USA CEO Robert Dotson Resigning


T-Mobile USA CEO Robert Dotson (pictured above) is stepping down from the company for personal reasons.  Earlier this year T-Mobile USA was considering spinning off from Deutsche Telekom.  T-Mobile is currently seeing a major loss of subscribers.  Internal hire Phillipp Humm will replace Dotson.  T-Mobile USA is currently working on deploying a HSPA+ high speed wireless service.  [InformationWeeek]
