Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has acquired Tatter and Company (TNC), a blogging platform based in Korea.  The amount for the acquisition was undisclosed.  Chang-Won Kim wrote about the transaction on his blog.  Chang-Won Kim and Chester Roh founded the company together. 

Currently TNC has about 400,000 blog users.  This includes 65 out of the top 100 bloggers in Korea.  TNC was the first company to receive funding from Softbank Ventures’ Ranger Fund.  Google bought TNC to broaden their portfolio for local markets.  TNC is comparable to Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.

Prior to starting Tatter and Company, Kim started a company called Tistory and sold it to Daum.net, the 2nd largest Korean portal.
