Fancy is a social commerce website that competes with Pinterest.  The company raised $26 million in funding this past October.  Now the company has acquired their first company: Samplrs.  Samplrs sold subscriptions for different types of foods.  Samplrs currently redirects to Fancy’s website.  Fancy has integrated Samplrs into a new service that lets you order a Fancy food box by subscription costing $39 per month.

The Fancy is a Pinterest rival that is known for curating style and fashion.  Fancy has raised $26 million in funding and was rumored in August to be getting acquired by Apple.  It sounds like the Apple acquisition will not be happening now that the company has raised a new round of funding.

RUMOR: Apple Interested In Acquiring Fancy

Apple is currently in talks to acquire social network Fancy according to BusinessInsider.  The Fancy is a rival to Pinterest and users are encouraged to “fancy” products like clothes and places.  Sometimes the products that are displayed on the website have discounts, making the website an e-commerce platform.  Apple CEO Tim Cook is a verified user of Fancy and he recently had a meeting with the creator of the service, Joe Einhorn, at a recent conference in Sun Valley.  The Fancy is based in New York and has 20 employees.

The Fancy is a photo community website that was founded by Joe Einhorn.  The look and feel of the website is similar to Pinterest.  Joe Einhorn, the founder of The Fancy, has been attracting some star power.  Some of The Fancy’s investors include Jack Dorsey of Square/Twitter.  Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Apple CEO Tim Cook both have accounts on The Fancy.  Now rapper and music producer Kanye West may either be partnering or investing in The Fancy.  Above is a photo that Kanye tweeted with the caption: “Working on the future with Joe Einhorn.” [BI]
