I’m a long-time fan of the TV shows Breaking Bad and The Simpsons. Some people believed that there are some striking similarities between Ned Flanders of The Simpsons and Walter White of Breaking Bad. This is why one of them matched up the audio from Breaking Bad with video from The Simpsons. This mash-up has surpassed over 300,000 YouTube views since going online about 4 days ago.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made a cameo appearance on The Simpsons in animated form. In the cameo, Zuckerberg updated his Facebook status and pointed out to Lisa Simpson that he dropped out of Harvard. Lisa was trying to teach Nelson the importance of education.

When Lisa said that Zuckerberg was an exception, the Facebook CEO pointed out that Bill Gates and Richard Branson were also drop-outs. However it turns out the janitor had a proper education.

For those of you The Simpsons fans out there, a Homer Simpson voice skin is now available to be built in to the TomTom Knight Rider GPS. Homer Simpson isn’t best known for his intellect, but at least we know now that he can give good directions. Some of his expressions on the GPS include “Take the third right. We might find an ice cream truck! Mmm… ice cream” and “Woo hoo, you have reached your destination. And you can hold your head up high because you are a genius. At the end of the road turn left, then taking the motorway. Hahaha WooHoo!” The voice skin runs for $12.95.

For all of you The Simpsons fans out there, this one is for you. This is a Moe’s Tavern alarm clock that lets you wake up to some of the following sounds:
Homer: “To alcohol, the cause and solution to all of life’s problems.”
Moe: “Is there an I P Freely here? Hey everybody, I P Freely!!”
Barney: “Hey can I throw up in your bathroom? I’ll buy something…”
Duffman: “Duffman wants to party down with the man who sent in 10,000 duff labels!”

The way it works is that you set the character that you want to wake up to in the “master position.” Pushing the bar stool down acts as the snooze button. The clock comes with 12 phrases in total. 4 AA batteries are required and it costs about $25 from Play.com.

As The Simpsons Movie is getting closer to arriving in theaters, the marketing department seems to be trying all sorts of interesting ways to promote the movie. On The Simpsons website, there is a feature that allows users to create their own Simpsons avatar[1].

Users can choose whether they want their avatar to be male of female and a kid or an adult. After that users can tamper with hair-styles, eye styles, eyebrow thickness, nose structure, lip style, and a color for clothes and skin tone.

The Simpsons is also using MySpace as a major promotional arm[2]. This may be because FOX owns the rights to The Simpsons and FOX is a subsidiary company of News Corp., the company that also owns MySpace.

The most interesting form of promotion so far to me was when The Simpsons signed a deal with 7-11. About a dozen 7-11s redesigned their convenience stores to look like the Kwik-E-Mart. The Kwik-E-Mart is a store in The Simpsons cartoon that is run by Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, an Indian immigrant[3]. Below is an image I found from Junkyard Clubhouse of the 7-11/Kwik-E-Mart in Mountain View, Calif.[4]

And here is my Simpsons avatar that slighly resembles me:
