PixelFish has no plans of shutting down Backyard as a result of the acquisition.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt is an investor in TomorrowVentures and XG was founded by four early Google employees.

Mobile gift start-up company Giiv has raised $3.35 million in Series A from investors that include Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) CEO Eric Schmidt, Saban Ventures, Founder Collective, and SK Telecom Ventures. Schmidt invested in Giiv through his seed fund company TomorrowVentures.
