TweetDeck App Hits The iPhone [Screenshots]
TweetDeck is one of the most used Twitter third party software programs, powered by Adobe AIR. Without TweetDeck, I probably would never be able to use Twitter. Now that program made its way to the iPhone. ”I can say now that it’s going to replace tweetie as my default twitter iphone app,” stated Rose on his blog.
Some of the features include column based friend groups just like the TweetDeck desktop software. There is also TweetDeck desktop syncing so that any changes made on the iPhone gets reflected on the computer. There is also a way to track status updates on Facebook in a toolbar format.

Tweetdeck Rumored To Be Charging $50,000 For Service Integration
TweetDeck is one of the most popular Twitter clients. Iain Dodsworth created TweetDeck to make using Twitter much easier. About a month ago, TweetDeck recently started supporting Facebook status updates. Other services that are built in to TweetDeck also includes TwitScoop, StockTwits, and 12seconds.
At the end of March, TweetDeck raised $300,000 in funding from Betaworks. That is a good amount of funding for a company that is a one-man show. And now that one man has even come up with a revenue model for TweetDeck.
TechCrunch has picked up a rumor that Iain will be charging $50,000 for a service that wants to be added on to TweetDeck. If he gets 6 companies to pay that amount, his revenue will be able to match his first round of funding.
There are already several link shortening services built in to TweetDeck, but Iain may start charging some of the new link shortening services that would like to be added to the Twitter-supporting software. The URL shortening services that come pre-installed in TweetDeck as of right now include bit.ly, digg, is.gd, tinyurl, tr.im, and twurl.
TweetDeck also recently has created branded versions of TweetDeck including a promo for rock band Blink 182.

Twitter Adobe AIR Application TweetDeck Raises $300,000
TweetDeck, an application built for aggregating content spread on Twitter and status updates on Facebook built on Adobe AIR has raised $300,000 in funding led by Betaworks. TweetDeck was founded by Iain Dodsworth.
Basically TweetDeck takes all of the information contained in Twitter and places them into manageable columns. For example, you can have a column that displays all the tweets your friends recently sent out, replies that you were tagged in, and direct messages you have received. You can also organize your Twitter contacts into groups using the software.
Most recently the software added a support for Facebook. You can directly update your status on Facebook using Tweetdeck and monitor a column of all the status updates that your friends have sent out. Currently TweetDeck is offered as a free download, but a Pro version may be created down the line.
Yesterday Betaworks announced that they have raised $2 million for Bit.ly. Part of Bit.ly’s growth is responsible by the automatic shortening URL feature built into TweetDeck.

Tweetdeck’s Newest Version To Have Extra Hashtag Support, StockTwit Integration, and Language Translation
In my old Twitter account, I tried to focus on adding as many people to follow as possible just like Guy Kawaski, Robert Scoble, and Shel Israel. But keeping up with thousands of tweets everyday became so overwhelming, I don’t know how they do it. So I created a new account and focused on following a couple important people that are local from where I’m at to people that have similar interests as me. Even all of those tweets became overwhelming until I discovered Tweetdeck.
Tweetdeck automatically informs you when you have been directly messaged or received a reply. Now I’m absolutely addicted to Tweetdeck and open it every 5 minutes when I get notified of new tweets. This is why I’m excited to hear that there is a new version coming out. I learned about it from Marshall Kirkpatrick over at ReadWriteWeb.
Below are a few bullet points about the new features:
- StockTwits integration - StockTwits is a startup that reports when Twitter users are talking about certain stocks.
- On-the-fly Language Translation – When right-clicking on certain text in a different language, there will be an option to translate it in English. This is great for those who have international Twitter buddies.
- Hashtag support – There will be a drop down menu available in the message compose window that allows one-click links to 10 of your most recent hashtags. This way you can remain active in topics that you have the most interest in.
- User Search – This was definetely needed. A new column will be available if you want to search for usernames.
- One Column View – Takes all of your columns and consolidates it in one.
What I would like to see in future versions of TweetDeck:
- Facebook status support: Whenever I update on Twitter, it automatically updates my Facebook status with the same message. But in order to find out whether my Facebook friends replied to that status, I have to log in to my GMail to find out. TweetDeck should automatically connect with Facebook to send over any replies or send me a notification if any of my Facebook friends update their status.
What about AlertThingy? AlertThingy is a TweetDeck competitor that provides the Facebook status and Twitter updates in two different columns already. But here’s the thing… It does not work well for me. The interface isn’t as good as TweetDeck’s interface. AlertThingy is no competition for TweetDeck.
