UberMedia has raised $5.6 million in a new round of funding. UberMedia is best known for developing applications such as Echofon, Ubersocial, Echofon, and Twidroyd. This round of funding was provided by German Internet investment company Burda Digital.

Twitter Closes TweetDeck Acquisition For Between $40-$50 Million

Twitter has closed the acquisition of TweetDeck according to a source with TechCrunch. Twitter is putting in between $40-$50 million in cash and Twitter stock to acquire TweetDeck. UberMedia was close to acquiring TweetDeck, but Twitter came in and made an unsolicited offer. Twitter did not want to allow UberMedia to have too much market share in Twitter-related applications and companies. [TechCrunch]

UberMedia and Twitter Resolve Their Differences

On February 18, Twitter said that they were blocking products owned by UberMedia because of TOS violations. UberMedia and Twitter have resolved their differences. UberMedia is changing the name of their BlackBerry client from UberTwitter to UberSocial. UberMedia will not be changing the name of their Android client Twidroyd. Below is a statement from Twitter:

Twitter Locks Out UberMedia Products Over TOS Violations

Well how about that… In the same month that UberMedia raised $17.5 million and acquired TweetDeck for $30 million, Twitter decided to block the company’s products. UberMedia Raises $17.5 Million, Acquires TweetDeck For $30 Million

UberMedia has raised $17.5 million in a round of funding led by Accel Partners with participation from Index Ventures and Revolution Ventures. This puts UberMedia’s valuation at about $40 million. Index Ventures. Over the weekend, Ubermedia also acquired TweetDeck for $30 million in cash and equity. UberMedia head Bill Gross and TweetDeck founder Iain Dodsworth are focused on building businesses within the Twitter ecosystem. Jim Breyer of Accel will be joining the UberMedia board of directors. UberMedia Acquires Mixx, A Competitor Of Digg.com

UberMedia is a Pasadena, California based company that is known for running UberTwitter, Twidroyd, Echofon, and PostUp Marketplace. The company recently acquired Mixx.com, a social bookmarking website that competes with Digg.com. Ubermedia used to be known as PostUp and the company is led by Bill Gross.
