The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is investigating the $2 fee that Verizon Wireless will be charging consumers for “convenience.” Verizon was planning on setting up this fee on January 15th to charge people who would be paying for their bill with a credit card through their phone. “On behalf of American consumers, we’re concerned about Verizon’s actions and are looking into the matter,” stated the FCC. Verizon Wireless has fixed the LTE outage that they suffered from yesterday. The 4G LTE issue was resolved overnight and 3G operated normally. Calling and texting was unaffected. LTE-enabled phones fell back to 3G, which meant that people needed to manually disable LTE to get any data service at all. This is the third time that Verizon suffered from a data outage this month alone. [The Verge]

Looks like it is time for you to set up auto-pay for your Verizon Wireless account because the company is going to start charging consumers a $2 fee when paying by phone or online for your monthly bill. Some of the ways to avoid the fee is by electronic check online, electronic check via call-in, enrollment in autopay using a debit card/credit card/electronic check, gift card or rebate card, Verizon OneBill enrollment, paper check, and paying the bill inside Verizon retail stores. Two dollars is not a big fee, but when you extrapolate that fee across a year, it adds up to $24 which could buy you three meals at Chipotle. [Droid-Life]

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) is rumored to be “very serious” about making a bid on Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) according to sources with Bloomberg. Verizon may end up causing a bidding war, which could potentially result in Netflix being sold for about $4.6 billion by Easter. Netflix currently has a market capitalization of $4.17 billion. Although I cannot imagine Verizon actually buying Netflix, it would be an interesting merger. [Bloomberg]
