T-Mobile to Partner with 7-Eleven After Splitting with RadioShack

As the partnership between T-Mobile and RadioShack comes to an end, RadioShack announced recently that it is teaming with Verizon. Where does that leave T-Mobile? Embarking on a deal with 7-Eleven. The switch goes into effect in mid-September, and the convenience store chain will begin selling T-Mobile calling cards and the $30 LG GS170. T-Mobile’s lot in this situation looks a little grim, but the company is poised to be acquired by AT&T in the near future. [TechCrunch]
Verizon Wireless Announces 4G LTE-Enable HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr

Verizon Wireless revealed a new laptop earlier this week. The new laptop is called the HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr and it features an embedded 4G LTE modem for high speed connection. The dm1-3010nr is 1.2 inches thick. Specs include an 11.6-inch 1366×768 pixel LED display, 1.6GHz dual-core AMD processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB hard drive, VGA webcam, and Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The laptop went for sale yesterday with a price of $599.99. Below is the press release and data plans are as follows:

Verizon Wireless Agrees to Pay Its Owners $10 Billion

Verizon Wireless has approved a $10 billion payout to Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodaphone Group Plc. Bloomberg Businessweek reports that the payment will be distributed between the two based on their ownership stakes in the company, which is 55% and 45%, respectively. Verizon Wireless hasn’t paid dividends to its owners in a few years, as the company has been focusing its expenditures on paying down debt.
RadioShack Drops T-Mobile, Re-Partners with Verizon

RadioShack announced today that it will be cutting ties with T-Mobile and partnering with Verizon Wireless in the fall. CNET notes that this gives RadioShack access to Verizon’s customers, a significant gain as the company currently boasts the largest mobile customer base in the nation. RadioShack has been struggling with its revenue and is relying on the September 15th brand switch to help make the company profitable again. Verizon’s previous partnership with RadioShack ended in 2005.
Verizon No Longer Offering Unlimited Data Plans

Starting July 7th of this year, Verizon Wireless will no longer offer unlimited data plans for smartphones. The company is switching to a usage-based pricing model, and currently plans to offer three options: 2GB of data for $30, 5GB of data for $50 or 10GB of data for $80. FierceWireless reports that users who go over their data limits will be charged $10 for every excess GB.
Verizon Wireless Planning To Launch Family Plans That Supports Multiple Smartphone and Tablet Devices

Verizon Wireless is preparing to launch family plans for data services that support multiple devices that include tablets and smartphones. Verizon plans on eliminating smartphone plans that allow unlimited access to the web for a flat fee with tiered pricing plan for multiple devices.

Motorola Droid X2 Available For Order Online Tomorrow At $200

The Motorola Droid X2 smartphone is going to be on sale this Thursday for $200 through Verizon Wireless online. The Droid X2 won’t be available in retail stores until May 26th according to Motorola spokeswoman Kira Golin.
The X2 is replacing the original Droid X that launched in July.

Samsung Gives Galaxy S II Some Weird Names In The U.S.:AT&T Attain, Verizon Function, and Sprint Within

According to a leaked screenshot by an employee at Wireless Xcessories Group, Samsung has renamed the Galaxy S II for the U.S. launch. The phone will be named the AT&T Attain, the Verizon Function, and the Sprint Within. T-Mobile is left out as they were not listed in the leaked screenshot. [MobileCrunch]
AT&T Promises Deutsche Telekom $6 Billion If T-Mobile Deal Gets Blocked

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has made a huge financial break-up fee to Deutsche Telekom (DT) if government regulators prevent the $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA. AT&T will pay $3 billion in cash, $2 billion in spectrum, and a $1 billion roaming agreement according to sources with Reuters. If AT&T is allowed to acquire T-Mobile, the combined company would be the leader in the U.S. mobile market above Verizon Wireless. [Reuters]
Verizon To Deliver iOS Updates Over-The-Air [RUMOR]

Generally when you want to update iOS on your iPad or iPhone, you have to download the update through iTunes and plug in your hardware to your computer through USB. Verizon Wireless does not want you to go through that kind of hassle any more.
