Oracle Acquires Vitrue For $300 Million


Oracle Corporation has acquired Vitrue, a company that has built a social marketing platform, for $300 million. The acquisition will allow Oracle to give a more extensive Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube marketing platform for their enterprise clients. Vitrue was founded in May 2006 and raised around $33 million since then. It is rumored that Vitrue was getting close to $100 million in revenues for the year. Several bidders had approached Vitrue, but Oracle beat them all. Vitrue was getting near profitability and it was reported that this would be their first year in profitability. Other recent similar deals that have taken place includes Adobe acquiring Efficient Frontier for $400 million.

Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, HootSuite, Involver, and Vitrue Developing Google+ Tools


In the past week Google+ launched a feature called Google+ Pages, which allowed businesses and brands build a profile. People have been critical of Google+’s Pages because they have banned promotions and competitions on brand pages directly, but they are allowed to do it from their own external websites. To allow social media management companies manage their presence on multiple social networks, Google+ is allowing Buddy Media, Context Optional, Hearsay Social, Hootsuite, Involver, and Vitrue test out their management tools on their service. Vitrue Raises $17 Million In Series C


Vitrue is a social media management company that has raised $17 million in Series C funding. Scale Venture Partners and Advent Venture Partners led this round of funding. Existing investors General Catalyst Ventures, Comcast Interactive, and Dance Ventures also participated. Some of Vitrue’s customers include Ford, Intel, MTV, Best Buy, and McDonald’s. Vitrue will be using the funding for expansion. [Mashable]
