Ghonim is best known for being the face of the recent revolution in Egypt that involved Hosni Mubarak stepping down as the President of the Middle Eastern country. Ghonim was temporarily arrested by government forces in Egypt and beaten. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has confirmed that the company marketing executive for the middle-east Wael Ghonim has been released by the Egyptian authorities. In a tweet, Ghonim wrote “Freedom is a bless that deserves fighting for it. #Jan25.” Google sent out a tweet that said “Huge relief–Wael Ghonim has been released. Our love to him and his family.” Ghonim was missing since January 27th when he was protesting against the government.

The spokesperson for the opposition party Wael Ghonim will be released by the Egyptian government tomorrow. Ghonim went missing since January 27th. The announcement was made by prime minister Ahmed Shafiq. It was believed that Ghonim started the Facebook event page for the January 25th protests. Ghonim’s last tweet before going missing was “Very worried as it seems that government is planning a war crime tomorrow against people. We are all ready to die.”

Wael Ghonim is the Google head of marketing for the middle east. Ghonim is now missing as he flew into Egypt last week to participate in the riots against the government. He wrote an ominous tweet that said “we are all ready to die” before going missing. According to CBS, Ghonim has been “symbolically” named the spokesman for the opposition group as an attempt to have him freed.
