iRex has announced that they are planning to unleash a new ebook reader in 2011.  The device is not yet named and it will be using a subtractive color mixing.  The color mixing will make the ebook reader three times brighter than current electrophoretic displays.  Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos stated that the color-screen version of a Kindle will be years from happening.  If iRex’s color device does come out next year, then Amazon.com may see some real competition for their e-book reader.  The full press release is available after the jump:
