Windows Phone Marketplace Hits 30,000 Apps

The Windows Phone Marketplace application store has hit 30,000 applications in their directory. Since the beginning of July, the number of applications grew from 25,000 to 30,000. Some stats about Windows Phone Marketplace includes:

- 989 apps have been added in the last two weeks
- 75 percent of apps are in english
- 8 percent of apps are games
- 47 percent of apps are free

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is investing a lot of time and money on Windows Phone 7.  PocketGamer has reported that Microsoft is contacting several “successful iPhone developers” to port their applications to WP7 Marketplace for cash in return.  However porting apps over won’t be easy for developers.
