Shannon Chiarcos, a human factors engineer and interaction designer at General Motors, has announced and conducted a demo of the new CUE rear-seat passenger infotainment and connectivity system in the new 2013 Cadillac SRX. The new infotainment system features a Blu-Ray DVD player and has a kid-tested gaming-style remote control that allows each of the 8-inch flip-up rear screens play media.
The system has a dual-play capability feature that lets one user play a video game on one monitor and another person listen to the radio. “Users can bring in several connective devices. They can bring in their SD cards so that they can view photos. They can also bring in their USB sticks and their iPods that contain all of their music and media files,” said Chiarcos. She added that this was the first time that they were bringing a Blu-Ray player into a GM car. The rear-seat infotainment system is available as an option with navigation and retails for $1,595.
