2013 Cadillac XTS Will Have Radar and Ultrasonic Sensors To Alert Driver About Road Hazards

Posted Nov 16, 2011

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has announced that they have created a network of cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors in the 2013 Cadillac XTS cars. This will help drivers avoid road hazards and help avoid potential crashes. In some cases, the 2013 Cadillac XTS will act without an action from the driver such as automatic braking based on obstacle driving.

?New technology in the XTS is intended to extend the vision around the car, helping drivers identify obstacles and, when necessary, take action to assist them in avoiding a collision,? stated Cadillac Marketing vice president Don Butler. ?Cadillac expands its lineup dramatically in 2012, led by the new XTS, and this suite of technologies is a central component of it.?

Some of the alerts for the XTS will be visual and audible. This will provide sufficient warning for the driver to react and make changes. An example includes the Safety Alert Seat feature, which will vibrate either the left or the right side of the seat cushion.
