A Google Chrome OS-Like Experience Is Being Built Into Windows 8

Posted Oct 6, 2013

Google has been updating the developer version of the Chrome browser so that it runs software that looks similar to Chrome OS within the Windows 8 Metro mode.

You can set Chrome to launch within the Windows 8 Start Screen with a “Metro-style” mode rather than presenting a full-screen browser.  There is a designated shelf that has icon links to Chrome, Gmail, Google, Google Docs, and YouTube.

The shelves can be designated to the bottom, left, or right of the screen.  Multiple browser windows can be created an arranged using the snap feature in Windows.  An app launcher is also available in the lower-hand corner.
