PC, tablet, and smartphone manufacturing company Acer Incorporated (TPE:2353) has reported their financial report for Q2 2013. The company reported a net loss of NT$343 million ($11.4 million), which is down from a profit of NT$56 million ($1.8 million) in the same period a year ago.
Acer attributes the loss to the company’s growing investment in product design and increase in DRAM prices. Acer’s revenues for the quarter declined year-over-year by around 19% at NT$89.4 billion ($2.99 billion).
Acer’s PC shipments fell 32% year-over-year, according to IDC. This is the largest shipment drop out of the top 5 PC vendors.
Acer currently has an 8% market share for the world’s PC market and sees most of their revenues from notebook sales.
