Acquia receives $50 million in funding

Acquia is a startup that helps companies maintain Drupal-based websites. Acquia has received $50 million in funding in order to build its customer base and create new features. The funding will be used for sales and marketing as well. 

Drupal is an open-source content management system that is used by many large companies.

Some of Acquia’s customers include Mercedes-Benz, Warner Music, NBC Sports Digital, Stanford University and Intel.

Founded in 2007, Acquia is based in Burlington, Massachusetts. This round of funding was led by New Enterprise Associates. Split Rock Partners, North Bridge Venture Partners, Sigma Partners, Investor Growth Capital, and Tenaya Capital also participated in this round. Acquia has raised a total of $118.6 million.
