Posted Sep 8, 2008

Next month Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) is launching new mash-up software called Genesis. Matthias Zeller, Group Product Manager at Adobe stated that the pilot will be given access to 100-200 testers before going fully live.

Genesis will save users time in having to open multiple windows for running applications. Genesis will be an alternative to portals and will join technologies such as enterprise apps, business documents, web apps, IM, VoIP, and video conferencing together.

“It’s a mashup on the client,” stated Zeller in an interview with InfoWorld. Users will be able to create “mini-portals on the desktop.” Genesis will be built on Adobe Flex and will be using AIR to run on desktops. The software will be compatible with Linux, Mac, and Windows. “Genesis” is just a code name and will be subject to change once going beta.
