AdRoll is a retargeting platform that has announced the acquisition of Userfox. Userfox is a Y Combinator accelerator graduate that offers user retention as a service for brands. This is AdRoll’s second acquisition after acquiring data analytics company Bitdeli in June 2013.
Userfox was founded by Peter Clark and Cesar Alaniz in 2012. It is an e-mail retention service that sends over 2 million e-mails per month to customers. Userfox was an idea that was pivoted from a video voicemail application called Vimessa. The founders of Userfox had a hard time sending high-definition video messages to mobile numbers and e-mail addresses while running Vimessa. AdRoll will be able to integrate Userfox to enable advertisers on AdRoll’s platform to gather and execute on valuable customer data from CRMs, e-mail lists, and mobile IDs.

AdRoll has 10,000 active advertisers worldwide and has a marketing platform that lets brands create personalized ad campaigns based on website data.
