Internet-based TV service Aereo is expected to launch their services on Android this month, according to International Business Times. The IBTimes cites an interview with Aereo CEO Chet Kanojia about the Android release. Aereo believes that this would expand their reach to more viewers in the U.S. since Android has a larger market share than Apple iOS.
Aereo uses small antennas to grab traditional TV broadcast signals in order to give users access to content and record it while circumventing royalties for the large networks. Aereo was hoping to launch the Android app last summer.
Aereo is currently available in Boston, Atlanta, and New York City. The company is expecting to expand in Miami, Houston, Dallas, and Chicago in the month of September.
