Aereo is going to launch their TV streaming service on June 17th in Atlanta, Georgia. The pre-registered consumers will gain access to Aereo starting June 17th and then general membership access will start on June 24th. Atlanta, Georgia is the third city that Aereo is launching in after New York City and Boston.
Aereo will launch across Atlanta’s designated market area (DMA), which includes over 5.3 million consumers across 55 countries across Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.
“We’re grateful and humbled by the continued support we’ve received from consumers for our technology,” stated Aereo CEO and Founder Chet Kanojia. “The response and enthusiasm from consumers across all of our expansion cities has been phenomenal. It’s clear that consumers want more choice and flexibility in how they watch television and they don’t want to be fenced into expensive, outdated technology. Aereo’s antenna/DVR technology brings the old-fashioned antenna into the 21st Century, providing consumers access to the over-the-air broadcast signals that belong to them. We’re thrilled to be coming to Atlanta and look forward to our launch in June.”
Aereo’s cloud-based antenna/DVR technology makes watching TV simple and user-friendly. Consumers can pause, rewind, and fast-forward any program that they are watching live or save a program for future viewing.
In Atlanta, there are 27 over-the-air broadcast channels that are accessible through Aereo’s antenna/DVR technology including WSB-HD (ABC), WAGA-TV (FOX), WXIA-TV (NBC), WGCL-TV (CBS) and WPBA (PBS), BounceTV, France24, MyTV, Univision, MundoFox, Unimas, and AntennaTV.
Aereo is supported on the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Chrome, IE9, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Apple TV (AirPlay), and Roku.
