Airbnb is growing at a rapid pace. Last year, they hit over 10 million total nights booked with over 200,000 active properties listed on their website. They are growing like crazy in London because of the Olympics too. About 20% of the company’s bookings happen through mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad, Android, and mobile web browsers. Airbnb has acquired DailyBooth and brought out on their CEO Brian Pokorny to head up the design and engineering team.
DailyBooth is a company that was incubated by Y Combination in 2009. DailyBooth is a service where users share daily photos of themselves. They raised $7 million in funding since launching including a $6 million Series A round led by Ignition Partners last spring. Other investors in DailyBooth include Sequoia Capital, Betaworks, True Ventures, SV Angel, Kevin Rose, Caterina Fake, VaynerMedia, Lowercase Capital, Felicis Ventures, Joshua Schachter, and Chris Sacca. The terms of the deals were undisclosed.
Pokorny also co-founded a popular photo-sharing mobile app called Batch. DailyBooth and Batch will eventually shut down, but their users will be given plenty of notice.
