Posted Aug 15, 2012

Airtime is a video startup company founded by the two guys that started Napster together, Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning.  The company left alpha mode in June 2012 and had a grand launch with many celebrities at the launch event.  Last month Airtime also launched a viral video featuring several celebrities.  Now Airtime has announced several new features.

You can now make videos of yourself and share them with your friends.  Your friends can reply back with their own videos too.  Airtime now has buddy lists to make video posting easier.

When you log into the website, you will be able to see your friends’ video posts and record your own response to the conversations.  Through Airtime you will be able to see the conversation history, video messages, and text chats when hovering the mouse over their names.

If you do not want to use Airtime’s own video chatting service, you can start video conversations by posting a YouTube video.

Airtime has raised $33.3 million in total funding from a diverse group of investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, WME, Marissa Mayer, SV Angel,, Ashton Kutcher, Ron Conway, Yuri Milner, Accel Partners, etc.
