Current TV, the cable channel that was co-founded by Al Gore, may be up for sale. Current TV CEO Joel Hyatt said that several companies have approached him to acquire the channel.
In an interview with the New York Post, Mr. Hyatt said ?as a consequence, we thought it might be useful to engage expertise to help us evaluate our strategic options.?
Current TV reportedly hired JP Morgan and The Raine Group to examine a potential sale of the channel. A strategic partnership with another media channel may be another possibility.
Current TV launched in August 2005 after former Vice President Al Gore heavily advocated global warming issues. Current TV reaches around 60 million homes.
