Posted Jan 26, 2013

The Almond+ is a successor to Securifi’s Almond home wireless router.  The company went live on Kickstarter a few days ago and it has already surpassed $160,000 with a goal of $250,000.  The router has 802.11ac network compatibility.

The router has a touchscreen and support for Z-Wave and ZigBee based smart-home devices and appliances.  The Almond and Almond+ makes it possible to update hardware connecting to it without having to enter IP addreses into browser address bars to configure them.  The original Almond router was the first to handle setup through a touchscreen.

The Almond+ added ZigBee and Z-Wave wireless home automation support.  ZiggBee and Z-Wave makes it possible to control Phillips Hue light bulbs and SmartThings-compatible devices.  The Almond+ has a retail price of $99.
