Expected To Launch A Set-Top Box By This Holiday Season

Posted Oct 4, 2013 is preparing to launch their own set-top box this holiday season to compete against products like the Roku and the Apple TV, according to The Wall Street Journal.  The Amazon set-top box will reportedly host third party applications like Netflix and Hulu.  Amazon also talked to developers to design media apps and games for the set-top box.  The code-name for the set top box is “Cinnamon.”  The Amazon set-top box would help Amazon boost Prime membership, which is their $79 per year service for streaming content and two-day shipping on many items.
