Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is planning to launch a marketplace for local services this year to compete against companies like Angie’s List and Yelp. According to TechCrunch, part of that launch will include a food takeout service, which would rival companies like DeliveryHero, GrubHub, and Seamless.
It will be a part of Amazon Local, a Groupon-like service that offers daily deals, coupons, and discounts from merchants. The service is scheduled to launch first in Seattle through an iOS app.
Amazon may acquire some companies to expand these services.
