Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is going to be launching a video streaming device next month that will compete against the Apple TV, Chromecast, and Roku, according to The Wall Street Journal. The device is expected to be released in early April through retailers Best Buy and Staples. The device reportedly will connect to Amazon’s streaming video service along with Netflix and Hulu. The device will run on a customized version of Android so that users can install more apps. The device has been in development for over a year. Amazon wanted to get it out by the 2013 holiday shopping season, but there were too many bottlenecks. The device is expected to have a stick-like body just like the Chromecast. There are also rumors that Amazon will be debuting a wireless controller to play games.
