Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has won their first Emmy award for smart video recommendations. Amazon’s Instant Video service won the Emmy for Technology & Engineering, which focused around the company’s personalized video recommendations. Amazon.com’s Instant Video service competes against Netflix and Hulu.
Amazon.com’s personalized engineering creates classifications for streaming movies and TV shows based on a person’s mood and topics. Some of the classifications includes Love and Zombies.

One of Amazon Instant Video’s largest competitor, Netflix is in the running for some Emmys themselves. Netflix was nominated for 14 Emmys based on their exclusive programming for the shows “House of Cards,” “Arrested Development,” and “Hemlock Grove.” House of Cards received 9 nominations, Arrested Development received 3, and Hemlock Grove received two.
