On Thursday, The Wall Street Journal claimed that is going to launch a free streaming media service. However, denied that it is working on the service.

?We?re often experimenting with new things, but we have no plans to offer a free streaming-media service,? said Amazon spokeswoman Sally Fouts.

The Wall Street Journal said that the new service would be supported by ads rather than the $99 Prime subscription service. The service reportedly would let users watch Amazon’s original content and licensed TV shows.

This is the second time that Amazon denied a WSJ report. In January, The Wall Street Journal denied that it was in the process of launching broadband TV services.

Amazon announced a press event for next Wednesday in New York, which will be overseen by Peter Larsen, VP of Amazon?s Kindle division. it is believed that Amazon will be launching a device that is similar to the Google Chromecast at the event, which would offer access to Prime Instant Video, Hulu, and Netflix.
