Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is going to invest in a new fulfillment center in Kent, Washington. The fulfillment center will be around 1 million square feet and will hire hundreds of new employees. This will be Amazon’s fourth fulfillment center in Washington.
Another fulfillment center is in DuPont, Washington and is near completion. The DuPont facility is hiring workers to pack and ship customer orders for $12.25 per hour with benefits.
?We?re excited to bring hundreds of great full-time jobs with benefits to Kent and proud to further invest in Washington state with this new fulfillment center,? stated Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations. ?We are grateful to local and state elected officials who have supported Amazon in bringing a new fulfillment center to the state of Washington.?
Amazon’s hourly employees will also get 95% of tuition prepaid towards courses that do not have to be related to the jobs at Amazon. Amazon hired 20,000 full-time employees in 2013 to work at fulfillment centers across the U.S.
