Amazon Partners With USPS For Sunday Deliveries In Certain Cities

Posted Nov 11, 2013

Amazon users in New York City and Los Angeles will now be able to receive packages through the United States Postal Service on Sundays.  What this means is that if Amazon Prime users make an order on Friday in these cities, they could receive their package by Sunday with the two-day shipping feature.  People that also buy two-day deliveries on Friday could also receive their packages by Sunday as well — meaning Amazon Prime is not required to receive Sunday deliveries.  The Sunday delivery service will be extended to other cities soon.

?As online shopping continues to increase, the Postal Service is very happy to offer shippers like Amazon the option of having packages delivered on Sunday,? stated Patrick Donahoe, Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer. ?With this new service, the Postal Service is now delivering packages seven days a week in select cities. Customers can expect the same reliable and valued service that the Postal Service currently provides.?

The Sunday delivery will be available in other cities including Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, and Phoenix sometime in 2014.

?If you?re an Amazon Prime member, you can order a backpack for your child on Friday and be packing it for them Sunday night,? added Dave Clark, Amazon?s vice president of worldwide operations and customer service. ?We?re excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service.?
