Buys iArchives For $27 Million

Posted Sep 24, 2010 has acquired for $27 million. This is’s second major acquisition within the last 3 months. Earlier this year, acquired Sweden-based genealogy website for $6.7 million in cash.

Inflection, a startup that created competitor and raised $30 million in its first round of funding earlier this year. Another competitor, called, has about $16.5 million in venture capital backing.

Through the acquisition, also gains ownership of, an American history subscription-based website service. iArchives digitizes photos of American history records of those who were a part of notable events as far back in the past as possible.
