The Angry Birds Star Wars II Game Will Interact With Hasbro’s Telepod Toys

When Rovio releases the “Angry Birds Star Wars II” game, players will be able to unlock characters by playing with toys.  Hasbro’s Telepod toys will work with Rovio’s Angry Birds Star Wars II game.  Each of the playsets will have action figures that work independently or can be scanned into the game.  Each Telepod figure is about an inch high and depict Angry Birds versions of Star Wars characters.

There are around 30 figures in total, including Jar Jar Binks and Darth Maul.  Each of the figures have a code on the base that can be scanned using the front-face camera on an Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8, and BlackBerry smartphone or tablet.  Players can import one of their action figures in place of a character that sits on the slingshot at the start of every level.

The new game will have a “Pork Side” mode, which will let players throw the Empire pigs from the slingshot.  The Telepods will be available for purchase on retail shelves this August and will cost between $5.99 for a few figures to $39.99 for a Star Destroyer play-set, according to Mashable.  Angry Birds Star Wars II will be released on September 19th.
