Appboy has raised $7.6 million in Series A funding led by Icon Venture Partners with participation from existing investors Bullpen Capital, T5 Capital, Blumberg Capital, and Accelerator Ventures.  New investors IDG Ventures and Buddy Media founder Mike Lazerow also participated in this round.

Of the $7.6 million round, around $2.5 million was in the form of a convertible note.  Appboy is known for helping companies maintain their user base through tool offerings to help with user engagement.  These tools include push notifications, in-app messages, and e-mail.

“If you want all the different, crazy charts, we’re not that. But if you want to understand your users down to a per-user level, and manage all your communication with them…that’s what we are,” stated Appboy co-founder and CEO Mark Ghermezian.

Appboy will be using the funding to hire additional sales and marketing team members.  They will also use the funding to market their primary products and expand internationally.
