Apple has been named as the top technology brand, according to the 2013 Harris Poll EquiTrend report. Harris Interactive sampled over 38,000 U.S. consumers on a wide range of products and services. Apple was scored on sales for brand equity, including familiarity, quality, and purchase consideration. HP took second place, Dell came in third, and Sony was in fourth.
“Americans continue to give Apple brands strong ratings,” stated Harris Interactive senior vice president Manny Flores. “What really stands out is that in all three of the categories Apple brands are measured ? computer, tablet and mobile phone ? its brand momentum scores are in the top 30 of all 1,500 brands evaluated in the study, showing that consumers see this as a brand of the future.”
In terms of tablets, the Apple iPad ranked ahead of the Kindle Fire, Google Nexus, Samsung Galaxy, and HP Slate. The BlackBerry PlayBook, Microsoft Surface, Motorola Xoom, and Nook HD tablets ranked below average.
The Apple iPhone beat HTC, Samsung, and LG for the mobile phone category. Phones created by those companies ranked above average. Mobile phones that fell below average includes ones made by Blackberry, Kyocera, Motorola, Nokia, Pantech, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony, and T-Mobile.
Verizon won the for the best service provider. Verizon was named the top pre-paid mobile carrier for two years in a row and won the top mobile network brand of the year for a third time. AT&T came in second place for both categories and was placed above average. Sprint and T-Mobile ranked below average along with Alltel, CenturyLink, Cricket, Virgin, and Vonage.
HP won the top award for printers and Canon fell right behind them. Kodak, Samsung, and Xerox was ranked behind Canon. Brother, Dell, Epson, Konica Minolta, Kyocera Mita, Lexmark, Panasonic, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba fell below average.
The Harris Poll was questioned in 2011 when they released the top tech brands and Apple did not lead any of the categories, according to PCMag.
