Apple Inc. (AAPL) To Hire More Suppliers For iPhones And iPads

Posted Nov 6, 2013

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is planning to hire more suppliers in order to meet the demand for iPhones and iPads.  Apple will be hiring Taiwan-based Wistron to produce more iPhone 5c devices, according to supply chain sources with The Wall Street Journal.  Apple will also hire Compal Communications to build the iPad mini next year.

Generally, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been relying on Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn).  However, Foxconn has been dealing with unsafe labor practices and a high defective rate for the iPhone 5 devices.

“Apple has raised this quarter’s iPhone 5S orders from Hon Hai as demand has been stronger than expected,” stated an unnamed Hon Hai executive. “But it takes time to boost production capacity and Apple can’t find other assemblers to increase production to meet demand immediately.”
